Cape Gooseberry Spicy Jam

cape Gooseberry Spicy Jam

Every time I found any innovative recipe I became desperate to try that and through any means I managed to bring the ingredients home but luckily this beautiful jam doesn’t require anything which was not available in your kitchen.

This  jam of gooseberry was something unheard of and I was not sure how it would taste but I would really recommend this jam  to be tried at least once, it came out little crunchy and the crunch came out of the seeds.  So before this lovely fruit say goodbye, preserve it for the whole year.cape gooseberry jam

Now so many bottles of  different jams were lying in my freeze which I tried last year and this year too, definitely some were going to my family and friends but in the near future I will introduce some pickles too on my blog and will introduce some baked savory items which I recently discovered.  Love to take my blog to places.

Recipe adapted from Health food deshi videshi

Ingredients

  • Cape gooseberry(cut into quarters) – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Grated ginger – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilly powder  according to taste
  • Water – 6 tbsp

Method

In a pan over medium heat put all the ingredients and let them simmer until it appears to look shiny it takes around 10 – 15 minutes.   To check whether it is ready or not, you can put a steel plate in  freezer for sometime then take that plate out and drop some jam onto it, if is gells then it is ready, otherwise cook it for further more two three minutes.  Once it is came to room temperature transfer it to a sterilized jar and keep this in the freeze. It can kept well for up to one year.
